MANUSCRIPT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Above all, we are looking for beautifully written books with a distinctive style. We are interested in well-crafted works of fiction and non-fiction that plumb fascinating depths of imagination and experience through unexpected approaches and execution. Our primary interest is in ambitious and sophisticated novels, intelligent works of non-fiction, bold long-form literary essays, and works that challenge conventions.
TRANSLATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As a multilingual publishing house, we have a keen interest in artistic and skillful translations of fiction and non-fiction, essays and convention-defying writings both of contemporary writers as well as of classic and lesser-known authors from the past. Recognizing that translation is a demanding form of art, we wish to showcase both the value of original works that deserve to find broader audiences in other languages and the mastery of the translators that make this possible.
We consider only direct translations from any language into either English, French or Spanish.
WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR
Academic essays, monographs, autobiographies, self-help, young-adult fiction, fantasy, horror, romance.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSIONS
ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS
Submissions can be sent by authors or literary agents. Each submission should include the following materials:
- An 800-word synopsis of the work. This synopsis should emphasize how the work cultivates a distinctive style.
- The full manuscript.
- Cover letter with biographical information and background as a writer (previous publications, if any; writing experience) and a justification of how the work submitted aligns with the editorial line of Keruanserai.
TRANSLATION PROPOSALS AND SUBMISSIONS
Each submission of a translated work, or the proposal for a translation should include:
- Cover letter with biographical information and background as a translator and writer (experience in the profession or previous publications, if any), and a focused explanation of how the work submitted aligns with the editorial line of Keruanserai.
- An 800-word description of the original work to be translated. This description
should address the place of the work in the literary tradition where it originates,
its local and/or international reception, and a brief justification of how the work would appeal to readers in the target language (either English, French, or Spanish).
- Sample material (6,000 words) of the translation. Please also include the original version of the text translated.
General Terms and Conditions - Manuscript Submission and Response
- We do not acknowledge receipt of submissions or manuscripts.
- We will only consider manuscripts that are properly written, edited and carefully prepared.
- We review all submissions and manuscripts received. If you have not heard from us after four months, this means that your submission was not selected. We apologize if your submission remains unanswered.
- We do not provide any type of feedback for manuscripts not selected.
- By submitting your manuscript, you guarantee that you are the author of the text and that you have not used AI tools for its creation or writing.
- By submitting your manuscript, you guarantee that your text does not violate any applicable laws or infringe upon the rights of third parties in any territories (including but not limited to copyright infringement, right to privacy, defamation).
